For use in pharmaceutical, chemical, biological, and toxicological laboratory settings. Specifically designed to provide maximum containment for balance applications. The opening of the enclosure has uniquely designed acrylic airfoils that allow a smooth turbulence-free airflow that prevents balance fluctuation. Weigh down to 1g without fluctuations or loss of product. The work surface is black for easy powder detection, constructed of tough, chemically resistant phenolic resin, and has a dished bottom for containing spills. Enclosures feature an ergonomic, energy efficient design with angled front for worker comfort.

Flow Sciences has conducted independent, third party testing on its enclosures. Using the ASHRAE 110 tracer gas test, the VBSE showed zero loss of containment at face velocity measurements down to 31 LFPM.

Enclosures are available in 19.5 inch Tall and 30 inch Tall Models with multiple standard widths to choose from. Unit includes an alarm, which is designed to continuously monitor airflow through the enclosure.

Top Mount Balance Enclosure

Flow Sciences, Inc has achieved another industry first by successfully incorporating a HEPA filtration system above a VBSE™ (vented ballance safety enclosure). The 10000 Series Balance Enclosures are designed with the filtration system placed directly above the workstation to provide maximum containment with minimal space and energy requirements.

A specially engineered motor provides quiet, smooth operation without transmitting vibration to the work surface. An internal plenum allows for gentle, horizontal airflow. The turbulence-free airflow provides a stable work environment that prevents balance fluctuations.

The system features clear acrylic on three sides for excellent visibility. No interior lighting is required.

All systems come standard with a black, chemically resistant phenolic resin base with dished bottom for easy powder detection and spill containment. The 30" deep base is designed specifically to accommodate larger balances. All systems come equipped with a face velocity alarm to continuously monitor airflow. Flow Sciences’ Top Mount Balance Enclosure with Bag-in / Bag-out Filtration is engineered to provide a safe, stable working environment in laboratory settings. The 30” deep base accommodates larger micro and analytical balances and the gentle, non-turbulent airflow limits balance fluctuation and loss of materials. Internal plenums and mounted aerodynamic airfoils around the face opening ensure smooth, horizontal airflow pattern across the work surface.

The bag-in / bag-out filter is designed for safe disposal and replacement of HEPA filter by a certified technician. In flow sciences’ “filter first” design, the fan is positioned to remain contaminant-free even when working with potent powders.

Units may be configured to discharge to house exhaust or to re-circulate back into the lab. Units configured for recirculation are portable and can easily be moved when necessary. “Stationary” installation is not required allowing for greater flexibility in the laboratory.

A secondary filter is located between the primary filter and the fan box (patent pending) making this the safest enclosure of its kind on the market. The non-loading secondary HEPA filter prevents any contaminants that might migrate downstream during Bag-in/Bag-out disposal, from coming in contact with the exhaust unit and being discharged to house exhaust or re-circulating into the room.

Clean-up is a breeze with quick, tool-free removal of internal top and rear plenums which allows access to all surfaces inside the work area for an easy wipe-down with diluted alcohol mixture while the exhaust unit is operating. The unit is engineered with a minimum of crevices for superior clean-ability minimizing cross-contamination risks. The operation of the fan is exceptionally quiet providing a better work environment. The front of the enclosure is angled for easy viewing while maintaining a safe, comfortable working position.

The base of the unit is black for easy powder detection and dished for spill containment. Each system comes equipped with Face Velocity Alarm to alert the operator of velocities below a preset range.

Mail Processing Workstations

The Flow Sciences' Mail Processing and Bulk Mail Processing Workstations are designed to provide environments where biological dusts, aerosol or vapors that may be present in letters or parcels are filtered, contained and exhausted.

How the Mail Processing System Works:

The standard Mail Processing Workstation is designed so that mail can be placed in the enclosure and opened and sorted. A mail slot located on the top left side of the enclosure enables the user to drop the opened (and now determined safe), processed mail into an outside mail bin. Questionable or hazardous looking substances found in an envelope would be discarded through the hazardous disposal port and placed into a secured biohazard waste bag. (This disposal port is located on the left-hand side of the enclosure, beneath the mail slot.) The bag can then be sealed and the contaminant safely removed for further analysis.

How the Bulk Mail Processing System Works:

The Bulk Mail Processing System includes a base cutout and mobile drum lift. Bulk Mail is placed in a 30 gallon, bag-lined drum. The plastic bag is sealed and the drum lid secured. The drum, on the mobile lift cart, is wheeled under the workstation and placed below the cutout. The lift raises the drum a few inches through the opening. The worker, using safe work practices such as wearing gloves and long sleeves, working from inside the enclosure, removes the drum lid and places the lid against the side wall of the enclosure (never removing the lid from the protected environment). The worker opens the plastic bag and secures it with the loose membrane.

The mail can then be opened or sorted according to company protocol. Secure mail can be placed into a bin on the outside of the enclosure through the side mail slot while questionable mail can be opened and disposed of safely using the side mounted waste chute and biohazard bag.
